3 3 Foundation and Graduate Apprenticeships Partnership Guidelines About this Toolkit about this toolkit Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is delighted to be working with our delivery partners to develop the Foundation Apprenticeship (FA) and Graduate Apprenticeship (GA) programmes in Scotland. One of the conditions of your FA/GA contract is that you acknowledge Skills Development Scotland s role in the development of the FA/GA programme and the funding that SDS provides on behalf of Scottish Government and the European Social Fund. By doing this, we can demonstrate more clearly the direct impact that our work has on individuals and employers through the FA/GA programme. As this is a development programme we re interested in your feedback on this toolkit, and any ideas you have for additional marketing support for your programme. If you have any feedback, or questions that aren t covered here, you can get in touch with our marketing team by ing marketing@sds.co.uk This document is designed to give guidance on how you should do this, offering practical assistance on where and when to use our logos, key messages related to FAs and GAs, and other marketing collateral.

4 4 Foundation and Graduate Apprenticeships Partnership Guidelines The SDS and ESF logo lockup The SDS and ESF logo lockup Please use the SDS / ESF logo lockup on all relevant marketing and communications materials, eg your website, printed materials and press releases. The Skills Development Scotland (SDS) and European Social Fund (ESF) lockup has been created for partners to use to recognise SDS and ESF funding. Because it conforms to the brand guidelines of both organisations it s pre-approved for use. This logo lockup can be downloaded from apprenticeships.scot/sds-and-esf-logo Mono version and Gaelic versions of this logo are also included. A version with a reversed out SDS logo is also available for use on dark backgrounds. Mono Gaelic Reversed

5 5 Foundation and Graduate Apprenticeships Partnership Guidelines Using the SDS / ESF logo lockup Using the SDS / ESF logo lockup Minimum size To ensure the logos are always readable, it must never be used smaller than minimum size: 67mm / 253px Printed materials: 67mm wide Online use: 253px wide Exclusion Zone The area around the logo lockup should always be kept clear to increase brand impact. Please leave a space equivalent to twice the height of the S in Scotland on all sides of the lockup.

Where possible, please also include a link back to the dedicated Scottish Apprenticeships website at apprenticeships.scot Website example. Single partnership (Reversed logo) Website example. Skills Development Scotland has developed the Foundation Apprenticeship programme, in partnership with education and industry, to provide work-based learning opportunities to prepare young people for the world of work. Individuals: Get a head start in your career You can do a Foundation Apprenticeship over two years, usually starting in fifth year as one of your subject choices. The difference is you spend time away from school, at college and with employers. So you get real, practical work experience. A Foundation Apprenticeship is a chance to try a career out so you can decide if it s right for you. Whatever you want to do after school go straight into work, onto a Modern or Graduate Apprenticeship or to college or university a Foundation Apprenticeship can open up your options. Foundation Apprenticeships are designed by employers, so you can be sure the qualification and skills you develop throughout are what you need for the world of work. Employers: Identify the next generation of talent Foundation Apprenticeships allow employers to spot talented, motivated pupils who could become your future employees. They enable employers to work with young people to build the skills their industry needs for the future. Apprenticeships are proven to deliver tangible business benefits through a blend of academic and practical learning that is centred on the workplace. They give you the opportunity to build stronger links with local school and colleges. Foundation Apprentices bring fresh perspective and new ideas to your business. Skills Development Scotland has developed the Graduate Apprenticeship programme, in partnership with industry and the further and higher education sectors, to provide work-based learning opportunities up to Master s degree level. Individuals Graduate Apprenticeships are a brand new way for you to achieve up to a Master s degree level qualification, whilst in paid employment. Graduate Apprenticeships are designed by employers, so you can be sure the qualification and skills you develop throughout are what you need for the world of work. Employers Graduate Apprenticeships allow employers to maximise their return on skills investment, providing the graduate talent pipeline their business needs. Apprenticeships are proven to deliver tangible business benefits through a blend of academic and practical learning. Benefits include: increased productivity, talent development and retention, improved service delivery, and staff engagement in their own professional development. Any requests should be directed to Delivery partners must acknowledge the support received from SDS. The body of their press release should carry the following line: Developed by Skills Development Scotland, with support from the European Social Fund Please carry the SDS / ESF logo on the release and include the following paragraph in the notes to editors: Skills Development Scotland, with the support of the European Social Fund, has developed Foundation Apprenticeships which enable pupils to complete elements of a Modern Apprenticeship while still at school.
