3 SAFETY AWARENESS AND FALL PROTECTION FOR HEIGHTS The Safety Awareness and Fall Protection for Heights program will be taught using a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training. The instructor will provide the students with a classroom lecture as a means to review the standard safety procedures that must be followed when dealing with scaffolding and ladders. After the classroom training, the students will be taught the proper procedures for assembling and disassembling scaffolds, the related OSHA regulations, appropriate fall protection, ladder safety, performing preventative safety inspections, and planning for falling objects. 4 QUALITY ASSURANCE This training helps participants understand Quality Assurance systems and the impact QA has on consistently meeting the customer s requirements, problem solving as well as its role in supporting Continuous Improvement. Students will learn various Root Cause Analysis methodologies which includes hands-on exercises as part of the class room training. Students will review the ISO requirements for internal audits along with various techniques for conducting audits, documenting findings, communicating results and following up on corrective actions. 5 LEAN CERTIFICATION Lean manufacturing involves never ending efforts to eliminate or reduce 'muda' (Japanese for waste or any activity that consumes resources without adding value) in design, manufacturing, distribution, and customer service processes. Developed by the Toyota executive Taiichi Ohno ( ) during the post-world War II reconstruction period in Japan, and popularized by James P. Womack and Daniel T. Jones in their 1996 book Lean Thinking. The course focuses on many key elements associated with LEAN implementation including essential tools, value stream mapping, A3 problem solving, Kaizen facilitation, and culture change. Certificate of Completion and general Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be awarded.
